Conference 2027

The inaugural Society for Charismatic Studies (SCS) conference will be held in Bristol in the United Kingdom on June 5th, 2027.

SCS Inaugural Conference

Saturday 5th June 2027, 9am-6pm

Father, Son, and Spirit

SCS Conference Theme

The conference theme, “Father, Son, and Spirit,” explores the theological, biblical, and historical dimensions of Trinitarian life within charismatic and renewal traditions. We have limited the day to seven papers to enable all conference delegates to attend all papers and to foster interdisciplinary dialogue.

This theme also signals the broader vision for the society’s future gatherings. Subsequent conferences will focus more specifically on each person of the Trinity—the Father (2028), the Son (2029), and the Holy Spirit (2030)—allowing sustained exploration of these themes over the coming years.

This inaugural gathering will focus on the Trinitarian foundations of charismatic theology. The inaugural theme, “Father, Son, and Spirit,” intentionally adopts a fully Trinitarian frame, creating multiple points of entry for scholarly engagement across biblical studies, historical theology, systematic theology, and other related disciplines. Contributors do not necessarily have to come from a charismatic tradition themselves but will be expected to engage with the charismatic and renewal traditions in their scholarship.

About SCS

The Society for Charismatic Studies (SCS) seeks to foster rigorous academic scholarship within a community of trust and dialogue working on charismatic Christianity and renewal movements across Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant traditions. The society aims to create a scholarly context in which careful research, critical inquiry, and constructive theological reflection on charismatic traditions can flourish.
